Maximising work experience outcomes for autistic young people in transition planningÌý

The transition to employment can be overwhelming and confusing for many individuals. myWay Employability Plus is an online platform that offers neurodivergent individuals and their supporters a guided strengths-based process for exploring careers and setting goals. Backed by research and co-designed with autistic individuals, myWAY is based on five employability principles:
(1) person-centred planning,
(2) starting transition planning early,
(3) encouraging big dreams,
(4) having a champion on the team, and
(5) focusing on the big picture about what work offers.
Understanding the broader benefits of work – building social networks, developing skills and resources for independence in the community, and having a valued place in society – can be powerful motivators.
Work experiences aligned to strengths and interests are helpful stepping stones in transition planning to understand the big picture benefits of work. This webinar will discuss strategies to find, plan for, and support autistic young people in work experiences.
